I have just watched this video on youtube, here is the link.

Christmas traditions

Christmas traditions vary from country to country. Elements common to many nations include the installing and lighting of Christmas trees, the hanging of Advent wreaths, Christmas stockings, candy canes, and the creation of Nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas carols may be sung and stories told about such figures as the Baby Jesus, St Nicholas, Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Christkindl or Grandfather Frost. The sending of Christmas cards, the exchange of Christmastime greetings, observance of fasting and/or special religious observances such as a midnight Mass or Vespers on Christmas Eve, the burning of a Yule log, and the giving and receiving of presents. Along with Easter, Christmas time is one of the most important periods on the Christian calendar.

Thanksgiving

Let me give you some information about THANKSGIVING and the history of Thanksgiving.

In 1620 British pilgrims from Plymouth left the "old world" to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing boat, the "Mayflower". When they landed in the "New World", they called the place "Plymouth" and founded a settlement. In spring, after a long, hard winter they started planting corn with the help of the local Indians. At the end of the season they had their first, abundant harvest which they celebrated with the Indians. This marks the beginning of Thanksgiving.
Today families and friends meet at Thanksgiving to share a common meal, mostly turkey. Thanksgiving also is the beginning of the Christmas Shopping season. On Black Friday, shops open early and offer special discounts to encourage people to start their Christmas Shopping.
